Lydia L. Wittman

Mrs. Lydia L. Wittman, age 94, of the Wisconsin Veterans Home-King, formerly of Wisconsin Rapids and Kellner, died Tuesday, March 29th, 2011. Lydia was born in Town of Oasis, Waushara County, Wisconsin on October 31, 1916, the daughter of the late Herman and Alma (Trojan) Kleist. Lydia married Harold "Hap" Wittman on Jan 26, 1946 in Almond. Hap preceded Lydia in death in 2000. Lydia was employed by J.C. Penny in Wisconsin Rapids from 1949-1976. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Kellner. Lydia enjoyed working crossword puzzles, golfing with Hap and their friends at the Iola Golf Club, going to the Milwaukee Braves baseball games and watching the Green Bay Packers. Lydia especially loved to handout candy to her friends and staff at the Wisconsin Veterans Home. She will be missed by many but is glad to be with her "Happy". Lydia is survived by her Cousins, Nieces, Nephews other relatives and friends. Lydia was preceded in death by her Brother: Clarence Kleist, Sisters: Ardene Burns, Esther Pratt and Lorine Kunde A Memorial Service will be held at the Wisconsin Veterans Home-Main Chapel at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, April 19th, with Reverend Wayne Schwanke, Chaplain, officiating. Visitation will be at the chapel on Tuesday, April 19th from 10:30 AM-11:30 AM. Interment of cremains will be in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in the Town of Grant, Portage County, Wisconsin. Memorial contributions can be made in Lydia's memory to the Wisconsin Veterans Home Chapel fund, N2665 County Road QQ King, WI 54946. The family would like to thank the Staff at the Wisconsin Veterans Home and staff and volunteers of Theda Care at Home Hospice for excellent care provided to Lydia while she was a resident.
