Louise E. Somers

Louise Elizabeth Somers, formerly of Hanover, Massachusetts, died at the age of 82 on April 23rd, 2015 at Iola Living Assistance. Louise was born on November 14th, 1932 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Oliver and Clara [Rieck] Zahour. She married Henry Harrison Somers on Nov. 29th, 1957 in Wauwatosa, Wi. He proceeded her in death on Dec. 8th, 1988. Louise grew up in Wauwatosa and attended public schools there. After graduating from high school she attended UW Madison and graduated with a degree in speech pathology. In 1979 Louise received her Master's Degree from Northeastern University in Boston. She worked in the Weymouth, Mass. School system from 1966-1997 as a speech therapist, working primarily with elementary school children. Louise was an active member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church (now, Joy in Christ Lutheran Church) in Abington, Mass. for many years. She enjoyed gardening and reading, calligraphy, pottery, and taking classes that interested her. In her retirement years, Louise took several trips to Europe and to Iceland which she enjoyed very much. After several years of increasing physical problems, Louise moved to Living Oaks in Iola to be closer to her family. She is survived by her son Dan Somers, daughter-in-law Janice Kuder, grand daughters Clarissa and Jenna Somers. Louise is also survived by her sister Charlotte Lingen, and her nephew Jeff Lingen, and her niece Sheryl McKenzie. A Memorial Service will be held at Iola Living Oaks at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 12th, 2015 Gathering of family and friends will held at Living Oaks 1 hour prior to the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in the memory of Louise Elizabeth Somers.
