Carsen Ann Elwing (Schuelke), also known as Carrie, of Iola, Wisconsin passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, September 6, 2026. She was born on November 25, 1944 in Manawa to the late Frederick and Lucille (Knaup) Schuelke. Carsen married the love of her life Richard Elwing on June 19, 1965 in Manawa. After marriage the couple lived in many different corners of Wisconsin raising their growing family and finally settling in Milwaukee where Carsen worked at the Milwaukee Art Museum running the deli for years. Carsen enjoyed a quiet life. She lived life entirely on her own terms. She loved trying her luck at the slot machines and she was always known to have a scratch off lottery ticket near her. She will always be remembered for being exceptionally honest and having a sharp wit. Her authenticity made those that knew her love her even more. To her family she was known as the matriarch: the anchor, and foundation. She will be deeply missed. She is survived by her children: Richard Elwing, Adam Elwing, Kimberly Ehrgott, Sandra Tessner; her grandchildren: Ashley Elwing-Vargas (Robert), Christopher Evans, Jessica Ridge (Chris); her great-grandchildren; KorbinJovany, Mateo, Emersyn, Montgomery, Sutton; her sisters: Yvonne Guenther, Arlene Giessel, Virginia Goodman, Kathleen Lustig; nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Richard Elwing, son: Kelly Elwing, and brother: Duane Schuelke. A Celebration of Life will be held at 110 Town Line Road, Iola WI 54945 look for the club house on location on October 3, 2026 from 11 am to 3 pm. Limited parking on site but street parking available.
