Debra Jean Axelson, of Stevens Point, passed away on September 12, 2026, at the age of 57. She was born on September 9, 1969, and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
Debra was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her greatest joy in life was her family, especially the time she spent with her nine grandchildren. She treasured every moment with her grandbabies and created memories that they will carry with them for a lifetime.
Debra found joy in the simple things in life. She loved camping, spending time with her family and canning pickles using her beloved mother Jeanette's special recipe. Those pickles were more than just a recipe-they were a cherished family tradition and a connection to her mother that Debra lovingly carried on. She also adored her beloved dog, Bear, who was a very special companion in her life.
Debra is survived by her children, Tiffanie, JJ, Tabitha, Marissa, and Samantha VanPatten, and her nine grandchildren, who were all the light of her life. She is also survived by her sisters, Dawn (Mike) Peters and Donna (Robert) Mueller.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; her parents, Jeanette (Meronek) Erickson and Arnold Erickson and her brother, David Erickson.
Debra's love, laughter, and memories will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends. Her love for her children and grandchildren, her cherished family traditions, her time spent camping, and the memories made around a kitchen table will live on through the people she loved most.
Though she is no longer with us, Debra's love will continue through her children, grandchildren, sisters, and everyone whose life she touched.
She will be deeply loved, forever missed, and never forgotten.
The Memorial Service for Debra will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Voie Funeral Home in Iola. The Reverend Joyce Heinz, Pastor of North New Hope Lutheran Church will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 9 AM - 10:45 AM
