With heavy hearts we share that Doris Hansen (nee. Hanson) passed away peacefully December 23, 2025. We were fortunate to celebrate her 95th birthday with her in September. That day, like every day, she filled the room with her infectious smile and sparkle in her eyes. She maintained her quick wit and sassy personality even into her final days. As we all know she was truly remarkable.
Born September 14, 1930 to the late Frank and Olive Hanson in Omaha, Nebraska. She lived in Omaha her entire childhood and attended University of Nebraska Omaha where she met her husband, Robert. They moved around the Midwest in the early years finally landing in Brookfield, WI to raise their family. Upon retirement they fulfilled the dream of hobby farming on their slice of heaven in Iola, WI. Her happy place was always with the animals.
Doris dedicated her life to being a fantastic and wonderful mother. Her degree in English made her a stickler for grammar and spelling. Never one to give an easy answer you could count on hearing "Look it Up!" in response to most questions. She gave years to Bethel 73 Jobs Daughters taking on any role needed and serving as Bethel Guardian for several years. She was always active in her church both in Brookfield and Iola. She sang in the choirs and was also a very skilled pianist.
Meeting her at the gates with open arms are Robert her husband, infant son Machael, Janet her sister, her parents Frank and Olive and several pets most notable Mr. Mushy their beloved Siamese. Missing her every day from here are her two daughters Kristine (Gary) Huss, Carol (Scott Lopez) Johnson, her son John and her grandchildren Mark (Kira) Bublitz, Devon (Britney) Johnson, Karen (Frank) Santoro, Kendal Johnson, Danny (Angionette) Hansen, Alysha (Ryan) Danko. Great Grandchildren, Taya Bublitz, Travis Danko, Kacey Danko, Natalie Hansen, Alexander Hansen and Emma Hansen.
A celebration of life will be held for both Robert and Doris at a later date. Until then keep her memory alive in your hearts and follow her sage advise: "Don't cry - Laugh"
