Shirley Ruth Bayba, age 93, of Phoenix, AZ died Tuesday August4, 2026 at home in Phoenix surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 1, 1932 the daughter of the late Charles and Hilda (Hartman) Jones. She graduated from Carl Shurz High School in Chicago and then went on to complete a course of study in child evangelism at the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. She married Lewellyn B. Bayba on August 28, 1954 in Chicago. In 1961 the couple moved to Phoenix, Arizona with the first four of their children where Lewellyn completed his family practice medical residency and later relocated to San Manuel, Arizona where they resided for over 30 years. Shirley worked tirelessly as a homemaker and also taught kindergarten for her own children and others at the community center in San Manuel. She practiced her training and faith holding a weekly

Good News Club in her home for the elementary school aged children of San Manuel. Shirley also accompanied her husband (physician) on multiple medical mission trips to Mexico where she did what she loved, sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with countless children using homemade wordless gospel bracelets which she always carried with her. Shirley was also active in her local church's Awana Chums children's programs after Lewellyn's retirement and relocation to Tucson. Shirley was a selfless, humble person who loved God and her family. She is survived by her sons: Jonathan (Judy) Bayba of Wausau, WI, Andrew (Patty) Bayba of Sierra Vista, AZ, and David (Molly) Bayba of Chandler, AZ and daughters: Ellen Bayba of Phoenix, AZ, Laurie (Phil) Card-Roley of Wenatchee, WA and Rebecca (John) Rodriguez of Phoenix, AZ. She is survived by 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son: Lewellyn J., husband: Lewellyn B., and brother: Charles R. Jones, Sr. The funeral will be held at the Voie Funeral Home, 120 S. Main Street, lola WI at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 15, 2026. Interment will be at Northland Lutheran Cemetery in Iola
